'Aggressive' drunk man fined after making 'gun' sign with his fingers in Nottingham city centre

A drunk man was handed a £155 bill after causing bother in the city and making a gun sign with his fingers.

Nathan Meakin, 23, aimed the gesture at police officers called to Forman Street, in Nottingham city centre, just after midnight, magistrates heard.

Robert Carr, prosecuting, said that Meakin had been seen earlier near a pub. "He turned and adopted an aggressive stance with his fists clenched, taking his top off and throwing it.

"He was pacing backwards and forwards. Officers repeatedly asked what happened. He started shouting and said 'what I need to do I will sort it out myself.'

"He then made a gun shape with his fingers, pointing at the officers," Mr Carr added.

A £40 fine with £115 costs were ordered from Meakin of Westleigh Road, Nottingham. He admitted being drunk and disorderly on March 23.

He told the magistrates: "I just wanted to get out of the way and it ended up like that.

"Nothing else to add. I am sorry."
