'Aggressive' customer detained by Tesco security as police called to store

Police were called to a Tesco supermarket in Wigan to deal with an 'aggressive' customer.

Officers were called to the store on Central Park Way at around 6.40pm yesterday (Saturday).

A member of security detained a man who was being aggressive, police said.

The man, aged in his 30s, was then taken away from the store by officers and escorted home.

Pictures taken at the scene showed several police cars stationed in the supermarket car park.

At least two police cars and a van were called to the scene.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called shortly before 6.40pm to a report of an aggressive customer detained by security at a supermarket off Central Parkway, Wigan.

"Officers attended and a man in his 30s was taken away and escorted home."
