Agent says loaned out defender could leave Man City permanently

Manchester City defender Pedro Porro's loan switch to Sporting could be made permanent, according to his agent.

City signed Porro from sister club Girona for £10.8million in the summer of 2019 but, like the majority of the City Football Group's young recruits, he is yet to play for Pep Guardiola.

The right-back spent last season on loan at Real Valladolid but only managed to make 15 appearances, with an illness keeping him out of action for the first half of 2020.

Yet, that didn't put Portuguese giants Sporting off and they signed Porro on a two-year loan deal this past summer.

The 21-year-old has already impressed in the capital, with two goals in 11 appearances, and Toni Pla, his agent, has confirmed that the club can make the deal permanent whenever they decide.

“Yes, it is true that Sporting can exercise the option when they decide, he’s safe," he told A Bola, via SportWitness.

“He knew that Sporting were a big club but he didn’t imagine it was that big. He’s surprised and very happy. At this point he’s doing very well at Sporting.”

“City proposed six or seven clubs to us but in the end Betis and Sporting remained. We decided for Sporting and now I can say that was in a good time."
