Agent says it's not in Adrian Peterson's 'best interest' to stay with Vikings

Adrian Peterson’s future at the Minnesota Vikings looks increasingly uncertain after his agent said it is not in the player’s “best interest” to stay with the team.

In November, Peterson was suspended without pay for the rest of the season, having been found to have violated the NFL’s personal conduct for “abusive discipline he inflicted on his four-year-old son”. Peterson’s ban was vacated in February after an appeal of the NFL Players Association.

Peterson has three years, and $45m, left on his contract with the Vikings. When asked on Monday if he thought Peterson would stay in Minnesota, the player’s agent, Ben Dogra, replied: “I don’t think it’s in Adrian’s best interest to play in Minnesota. Why would it be?”

The Vikings owner, Mark Wilf, said on the same day that he is keen to keep hold of Peterson, one of the NFL’s best running backs. “The bottom line is Adrian is an important part of the Minnesota Vikings,” said Wilf. “He’s represented us on and off the field. We’re getting ready for the 2015 season and we fully expect him to join his team-mates and be a part of what we feel is going to be a great season ahead.”
