Darwin Nunez agent details transfer 'contact' amid Manchester United and Man City transfer links

The agent of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez has said he has been in contact with 'top-level teams' about a potential move for his client following links with Manchester United and Manchester City

Nunez has set tongues wagging after netting twice in the Champions League against Barcelona, with United and City reported to both holding an interest in signing the player.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola previously reported that Pep Guardiola's scouting network was even present at the Barcelona game to witness the striker's impressive brace.

And now the player's agent, Edgardo Lasalvia, has spoken publicly about the Uruguayan's development and plans for a move in the not too distant future.

Lasalvia told FC Inter News: "Darwin is ready to play in any team on the globe.

"Various top-level teams have contacted us, but for the moment the head is on continuing and growing with Benfica and with the Uruguayan national team: this is how important things will come."

Commenting on Nuñez’s similarity with his national teammate Edinson Cavani, he added: "They have a lot of things in common. We’re convinced that Darwin is destined for great things.

"The important thing is that he is happy now and wants to repay the trust of Benfica and the affection of the people by winning a title. We’ll discuss the transfer possibilities with the club executives if necessary, as it should be.

"For the moment we’re calm and happy to see him on the pitch."

City reportedly think they have an edge on other clubs for the signature of Nunez.

The Daily Star claims that Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also keen on the 22-year-old.

But City's previous dealings with Benfica for Ederson and Ruben Dias could mean the channels of communication could be opened quicker.
