Agent issues update on Jorginho's Chelsea future and confirms summer transfer was possible

Joao Santos - the agent of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho - has revealed that the future of the Italian international all hinges on the future of former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

The central-midfielder, who has scored three times in 11 appearances for the Blues so far this season, was heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge throughout the summer.

Initially, it looked as though Jorginho, 28, would be reunited with Sarri at Serie A giants Juventus, with the former Blues boss having worked with the midfielder at both Napoli and Stamford Bridge. But after Sarri was sacked by Juventus in August, no move ever came to fruition.

Though a move to Turin was dead and buried, Jorginho was still closely linked with leaving the west London club before the window came to an end, with London rivals Arsenal expressing an interest in securing his signature.

In the end, of course, Jorginho remained at Stamford Bridge and continues to be a regular fixture within Frank Lampard's team.

Despite that, reports linking the midfielder with an exit are never too far away, with his agent having now confirmed that his future could be dictated by Sarri's next move, admitting that he may have sealed a move to Juventus during the summer had the former Chelsea chief not been replaced by Andrea Pirlo in the managerial hot seat.

"He's very happy with Frank Lampard and Chelsea can do even better than last season,'" Santos told Calciomercato.it. "Almost all the Italy players are in Serie A, as it's an important league, but his journey took him to London.

"If Maurizio Sarri had remained, perhaps he'd have joined Juventus.

"Jorginho has a personal and professional bond with the coach that is very strong. We're waiting to see where Sarri goes, and if it's a big club in Italy, Jorginho could follow him."

Currently, Sarri remains out-of-work, with him patiently awaiting an opening to return to the dugout.

Jorginho's contract at Stamford Bridge is not due to expire until the summer of 2023, meaning any club that Sarri does end up at, should he still want to be reunited with the midfielder, would be forced to shell out a hefty-sized transfer fee to prize him away from Stamford Bridge.

Since joining the Blues from Napoli in July 2018, Jorginho has played over 100 games for the club, scoring 12 goals.
