Agent details Erling Haaland's Leeds United Thorp Arch visit before his rise to prominence

Erling Haaland - the 21-year-old Norwegian superstar who's on the wish list of every top club in Europe - paid a surprise trip to Thorp Arch ahead of a proposed move to Elland Road before his career shot to prominence.

The Borussia Dortmund striker has a remarkable goal record at senior level and is currently averaging a goal a game in the Bundesliga.

But, little was known of the Norwegian striker when he rocked up at Thorp Arch in with Thomas Christiansen in the 2017/18 season.

Little did the Leeds United players or staff know at the time, but they had one of the brightest talents in European football in the palm of their hands ahead of a proposed move to Elland Road.

Haaland would have been just 17 years old when the young Molde striker made his way across the pond ahead of a potential move to Leeds.

The attraction to the club needed no explanation. Leeds is the place where the hot prospect was born and the place his father Alf-Inge spent three years of his career.

Speaking to The Phil Hay show, football agent Hayden Evans has given an insight into Haaland's visit to the Leeds United training ground.

As seen in a clip on The Athletic journalist's Twitter, Evans said: “They usually have the Leeds United shirt already made up with Haaland on the back and all the rest of it.

“What was impressive about them at the time was he said, ‘look, let’s go to the training ground, that’s what the boy wants to see, Elland Road’s Elland Road, he loves it as a Leeds United fan but as a footballer, we want to talk football’.

“They were in the middle of a first-team session and Christiansen had stopped the session and came over to Erling and hugged him, talked about football and all the rest of it.

“That went really well and Christiansen was impressive, frankly.”
