Agent confirms Tottenham's interest in completing summer transfer for £50m-rated midfielder

The agent of AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie - Massimo Brambati - has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are amongst the clubs expressing an interest in his signature this summer.

Kessie, an Ivory Coast international, is days away from entering the final year of his contract at the San Siro and is attracting no shortage of attention as the prospect of him being picked up at a reduced price grows bigger.

Renowned as being a tough-tackling, hard-to-beat defensive-midfielder, Kessie has become of the very best in his role in recent years, explaining why several clubs are being linked with his signature.

Now, according Brambati, Spurs are one of those, insisting there is one other Premier League club tracking his signature.

"Today, having a contract expiring in 2022 with an important player, one of Milan’s strongest, is a danger," Brambati said. "Here is a basic error by the club.

"Now [Kessie] is the one who holds the knife by the handle and can decide what is best for him rather than the club.

"I know that in addition to Inter there are two Premier League teams interested in him, including Tottenham."

The Ivory Coast ace, who joined Milan back in 2019, is also on the wish list of Milan's cross-city rivals, Inter, meaning the Rossoneri may be more willing to sell him to Spurs rather than their closest rival, should that situation arise.

Although Kessie, who is, according to transfermarkt, valued at £49.5million, is a defensive-minded midfielder, he is not shy when it comes to getting high up the pitch and expressing himself in the final third.

That is because the 2020/21 campaign saw the former Atalanta man chip in with 14 goals and ten assists, highlighting just why his current valuation is so high.

But with the midfielder now set to enter the final year of his current deal at the San Siro, Spurs may be able to negotiate a lower fee with Milan if they are to express a serious interest in landing his signature.
