Agent claim about Nottingham Forest-linked striker gives clubs an 'opportunity' to pursue deal

Reported Nottingham Forest target Ivan Toney could hold out making a decision on his future until September, it is claimed.

The Peterborough United hot-shot is a wanted man this summer, with numerous clubs said to be keen on snapping him up.

The Reds are among those to have been linked with a move, along with West Bromwich Albion, Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic, and Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

Reports suggested Brentford have had a bid accepted for the forward, who is valued at around £10m to £11m by Posh.

But now the Scottish Sun say Celtic “are locked in talks” and have not given up hope of getting a deal done.

It is said they have been boosted by suggestions Toney could wait to decide where his future lies - also potentially opening the door for other teams to try their luck.

The Sun say Hoops head of football operations Nick Hammond is “trying to thrash out a fee” for the front man.

And they add: “Toney is believed to be changing agents, but since his deal with a new firm doesn’t kick in until September 1, he could hold on until then before deciding where his future lies.

“And that window has given Hammond the opportunity to keep working on getting a deal over the line.”

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has previously claimed 10 clubs from the Premier League and Championship are after his star man.
