Agent appointed to huge £150 million Nightingale Quarter regeneration site in Derby

The developer behind a £150 million project to build 800 homes on a former hospital site in Derby city centre has appointed an agent to sell the properties.

Wavensmere Homes, which will be constructing the homes on the former Derbyshire Royal Infirmary site over the next five years, has announced a partnership with estate agents Haart.

Planning permission for the scheme, known as the Nightingale Quarter, was granted earlier this year by Derby City Council.

The development, which covers 18.5 acres, will include the sale of 125 luxury two and three-bedroom homes, soon be released for sale, along with an array of apartments.

The project will see the former DRI’s iconic ‘pepper pot’ structures preserved and turned into a community hub cafe, exhibition space, gym and meeting rooms.

The scheme will also feature cycle routes, an open-air gym and fitness area, children’s play areas and planting throughout the site.

Donna Smith, sales director at Wavensmere Homes, said: “Once we met with Haart we knew they were the right agents for the role.

“The Nightingale Quarter is a site that is already proving incredibly popular with potential buyers and since we recently announced that enquiries were now being taken for the homes, we were inundated with people wanting to be on the list to be first to buy.

“So, bringing in such an experienced agency was very important to us in taking these forward.

“Haart, who are part of the Spicerhaart Group, has an incredible history in working around the country, but most importantly they have local knowledge of Derby and invaluable contacts that will put the Nightingale on the map. We are proud to have them on board.”

Haart, which has around 200 offices across the country, is set to open its new flagship branch in Derby city centre.

The firm is relocating from St James Street to Albert House, a Grade II-listed building on the corner of the Cornmarket and Albert Street.

Claire Drewett, divisional sales director at Spicerhaart Land and New Homes, who has more than 20 years’ industry experience, said: “Building a community in an oasis of calm and greenery but in the very heart of the of the exciting city of Derby. It will be the place to live.”

John Forkin, managing director of Marketing Derby, said: “The Nightingale Quarter is a massive investment that will quickly become a desirable residential location in the city centre providing 800 much-needed homes.

“We all have personal memories of the DRI and I look forward to seeing this important part of Derby’s past become a vital community asset for its future.”
