Presumably most readers will be aware of the impending age discrimination laws, which join others aimed at protecting people in the workplace, according to the Daily Telegraph and others. It's clearly a good thing that people will no longer suffer unjustifiably because of their age, or have their pay marked down because they're deemed over the hill or something (says a writer who's turned 40 this year).
The CBI, however, isn't pleased. It's not that they're anti-older people in the workplace, far from it - nor do they wish to promote sexism or any other ism that disadvantages people unfairly. They've noticed, however, that there are now over 70 grounds on which employees can take action against an employer - and in any system in which you aim to protect people you'll get the chancers who want to take advantage.
70 regulations governing what you may or may not do in terms of employee relationships. Go on, how many can you name offhand?
