JAIPUR: Anjali Singh, a resident of Bajrang Vihar colony in Machra, has been putting up at a neighbour’s house for the last five days as her house is filled with sewer water. Due to a sewer line choke, dirty water has flooded her house making it impossible for her family to stay. "I lodged a complaint with JMC-Greater five days ago. Later they sent a sewer jetting machine,” said Singh.
“They said they needed a bigger machine as a big stone was choking the line. However, it's been four days and nothing has changed. Don’t we deserve to have our complaints resolved on time?" she said.
Murlipura zone deputy commissioner Santosh Goyal said the corporation was looking into the matter. The entire city has been facing issues with a decades-old sewerage system that needs immediate renovation. In Walled City too, Hawa Mahal, Civil Lines, and Adarsh Nagar zones have severe problems of sewerage choke.
Ward 92 councillor Shayam Sundar said, “I have stopped counting the number of times we have asked the corporation employees to clean the lines. But our complaints take weeks to be heard.”
