Age is not a requirement for the Redskins wide receivers

As the Washington Redskins head into the 2020 NFL season, the average age of the wide receiver corps is 24, and the four projected starters are even younger than that, with Terry McLaurin, Steven Sims, and Kelvin Harmon all standing at 23 years of age.

While some may see this youth as a problem, offensive coordinator Scott Turner doesn’t see it that way. If you can play, you can play.

“I never have gotten caught up in that,” Turner said, via NBC Sports Washington. “I just want the best players possible. I don’t care if they’re rookies or 10th-year guys. We want them to compete and whoever’s the best guy who we feel like gives us the best chance to win, we’ll put him out there.”

The player who Washington brought in to be a veteran guy earlier this offseason, Cody Latimer, has an unclear future with the program after being arrested and charged with several counts of assault earlier this month. However, it was hard to see how much Latimer was going to factor into the Redskins’ offense, with a lot of the targets seemingly accounted for.

Regardless of who is on the field, what matters is if the players lining up on offense can play, and if QB Dwayne Haskins can get them the ball. If the answer is yes, it could be an entertaining year in Washington.
