TV watchdog Ofcom has approved BBC plans to alter its provision for children.
The move includes axing the Newsround afternoon broadcast.
The BBC wants to move more of its children’s content online in an attempt to halt declining viewing numbers among young people.
It wants to axe Newsround’s afternoon slot from CBBC but keep its morning slot and divert resources online.
Ofcom said it had “confirmed changes to the BBC’s operating licence to allow it to provide more content for children online”.
