The North East can expect to see heavy rain as the remnants of Hurricane Humberto hits UK shores.
The storm, which cleared Bermuda overnight, will make its way across the Atlantic and towards Britain over the weekend.
Although it will not be as fierce by the time it reaches us, its aftermath is expected to bring heavy showers and wind.
The Met Office says the North East is likely to be affected on Sunday and Monday.
Helen Roberts, meteorologist, said: "By the time Hurricane Humberto reaches us, it's not a hurricane - it's the remnants of the storm. It's a different beast by the time it gets to the UK.
"It will bring some probably heavy showers in the North East, mainly overnight on Sunday and early into Monday.
"There will be a brief dry spell after that before potentially some more rain later in the day on Monday."
She said the weather is expected to be fine and warm on Friday and Saturday, with highs of 20C to 21C.
It will start to become unsettled on Sunday and temperatures will see a slight dip to 19C.
She added: "The next couple of days will have fine weather, particularly on Saturday, before it starts to become unsettled.
"It's difficult to say how much rain there will be on Sunday and Monday, but some showers are likely to be heavy."
Hurricane Humberto knocked out power lines in Bermuda on Wednesday night, plunging the islands into darkness.
The storm whipped the area with powerful winds and heavy rain.
More than 28,000 homes and businesses had lost electricity by early evening, according to electricity company Belco, and flights were also cancelled.
