After winning DWCS 33 thriller, Collin Anglin is looking to become a household name

LAS VEGAS – Collin Anglin hopes his win on Dana White’s Contender Series will act as a springboard for a successful career.

Anglin (8-1) outlasted Muhammad Naimov in a back-and-forth war Tuesday night at DWCS 33 to earn a UFC contract for his spectacular showing.

Naimov started strong, throwing an array of spinning attacks and putting the pressure on Anglin. But Anglin fired back in Rounds 2 and 3 as he mixed things up with his grappling and striking, using his superior cardio to turn things around and take control of the fight.

“I was having fun in there,” Anglin told reporters, including MMA Junkie, after his win at the UFC Apex. “First round I was kind of bummed out about, but second and third I was having a blast and just trying to take his (expletive) head off.”

He continued, “At one point his coaches were yelling, ‘He’s only got a right hand, he’s only trying to hit you with his right,’ and I was thinking in my head, ‘Yeah mother (expletive), but it’s landing!'”

After engaging in one of the best fights in Contender Series history, Anglin wants to capitalize on his momentum and rise to fame.

“I don’t want just a regular UFC career,” Anglin stated. “The goal is to make a name for myself and be a household name and be someone that everyone knows.”
