'After that' - Striker reveals major regret about Martin O'Neill

Sunderland striker Danny Graham has spoken about his experience of Nottingham Forest legend Martin O'Neill's reign at the Stadium of Light.

O'Neill spent £5m to sign Graham for the Black Cats in January 2013 only to be axed two months later and replaced by Paolo Di Canio.

"I liked Martin O'Neill. I didn't get to spend enough time with him before he got sacked," said Graham, speaking on the Open Goal podcast.

"I met him a few times before the move went through. I loved the way he spoke.

"I spoke to a few lads who were at Sunderland at the time and heard that he was great with the players for days off and his training was good.

"I was really excited to work with him. A few games in we got the message that he got the sack and after that it was manager after manager. It was a bit of a car crash really."
