After tentatively scheduling, NBA finalizes date for its 2020 Draft

As the NBA looks ahead to its 2020 Finals, there remains a fair bit of uncertainty about the 2020-21 season.

The league originally planned to have a quick turnaround and sought to begin the season before the end of the year, however, the priority has been to get fans back in for games. If that means pushing back the beginning of next season until well into 2021, it can’t be ruled out.

With respect to next season, the league has formally notified teams that it will not begin before Christmas, but again, it’s quite possible that we may not see NBA basketball again before sometime after January — nothing is off the table, even if it means that the NBA’s players won’t be able to participate in the Olympics.

One thing that has become solidified, however, is the date of the 2020 NBA Draft. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the league has locked Nov. 18 in as the date for the event.

Because of the uncertainty, many of the activities that are hallmarks of the pre-draft process — the NBA’s combine and individual workouts among them — have been indefinitely postponed.

It does now seem that with the draft confirmed, additional activities can be scheduled.

The Thunder own the 25th and 53rd selections in the draft.
