At one point in the offseason, the Vikings were dead last in cap space among NFL teams.
But a lot has happened since then. Minnesota has made moves like terminating the contracts of Xavier Rhodes, Linval Joseph and Josh Kline.
Those moves, combined with restructuring Danielle Hunter’s contract, and not breaking the bank with re-signings, have led to the Vikings having a bit more to work with in the offseason than when it first started.
The Vikings are ranked No. 22 in the NFL for 2020 salary cap space, according to Over The Cap. The team has more than $14.2 million in space at the moment.
Minnesota has over $20 million in dead money. Also, having a little over $14.2 million isn’t going to lead to the Vikings signing multiple high-profile free agents.
However, there are some moves the team can continue to make. Per Over The Cap, the Vikings could cut tackle Riley Reiff and garner $8.8 million in cap savings, while creating $4.4 million in dead money.
