With a multi-fight contract in his pocket, Nick Newell will get another home game for his Bellator return.
Connecticut’s Newell (16-2 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) will face Manny Muro (10-6 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) on Oct. 26 at Bellator 232, the second night of the promotion’s back-to-back event weekend at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville. The card streams live on DAZN following prelims on MMA Junkie.
The contest is signed for a catchweight of 160 pounds.
A Bellator official verified the booking with MMA Junkie after an initial report from ESPN.com.
Newell, 33, made his promotional debut in August at Bellator 225 when he defeated Corey Browning by first-round submission. The fight was the solo bout of a one-fight deal.
In a post-fight media scrum, Newell made it clear he hoped to sign a longterm deal with the promotion. Less than two months later, Newell inked an exclusive, multi-fight deal with Bellator.
His opponent Muro has gone 1-3 in his last four outings. A professional since 2015, the 32-year-old fighter competed once for Bellator in Oct. 2017 and won an unanimous decision against then-surging prospect Emmanuel Rivera.
