After marrying Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner changes name to Sophie Jonas; formal Paris wedding still on the cards

The wedding happened Wednesday night, May 1 after the Billboard Music Awards, where the Jonas Brothers had performed. Turner’s publicist confirmed the nuptials, which DJ Diplo posted on his Instagram live feed.

Actor Sophie Turner has legally changed her name after her surprise wedding to singer Joe Jonas earlier this week. The couple tied the knot after the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday, at the famous Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. The couple reportedly intends on holding a more formal function in Paris soon.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Sophie has officially changed her name from Sophie Belinda Turner to Sophie Belinda Jonas. Her social media accounts still retain her old name, though.

Joe on Thursday shared two new pictures of his bride on Instagram. The pictures aren’t of their wedding, although several videos from the ceremony have found their way online, and some of them even show sister-in-law Priyanka Chopra.

Priyanka had changed her social media handles to reflect her new name: Priyanka Chopra Jonas after marrying Nick Jonas. Joe captioned the post, “Hot Damnnnnnnn,” and received congratulatory messages from the likes of Diplo, Chloe Bridges and several others. Diplo was one of the only guests at the wedding that shared live videos from the ceremony on Instagram.

According to the Elvis impersonator who officiated their wedding, Sophie and Joe booked the venue only a week in advance. They’d previously spoken about tying the knot, but had always said that Nick and Priyanka would beat them to it.

Joe and Sophie are planning a more formal wedding, however. A source told Entertainment Weekly, “Joe and Sophie are a couple that loves to have fun and live in the moment, and that’s exactly what getting hitched in Vegas was. The couple does plan to have a more formal wedding with their family and friends, but this ceremony was just fun. Joe and Sophie are planning to get married in Paris later this year.”

The Jonas Brothers performed their first live awards show in a decade, and Sophie was seen grooving along with Priyanka and Danielle (Kevin Jonas’ wife). The actor will play the lead role in the upcoming X-Men spin-off, Dark Phoenix, in July.
