After LeBron picks AD in All-Star draft Giannis asks ‘Isn’t that tampering?’

It’s no secret that Thursday didn’t go the way LeBron James had hoped. Anthony Davis is still on the New Orleans Pelicans and the Lakers have to get back to their uphill climb to get to the postseason.

But of course, Thursday was also the day of the first ever televised NBA All-Star draft. And although it was recorded on tape delay, there was one particular trade deadline related joke. After LeBron James selected Anthony Davis as a reserve, Ernie Johnson jokingly asked if he “really” wanted Davis as his teammate.

Fellow All-Star captain Giannis Antetokounmpo had one more joke to go with it. “Is that tampering?”

Tampering is of course, a very sensitive subject for the NBA. The Pelicans themselves asked the league to investigate tampering involved with Anthony Davis’ trade request and fined Davis $50,000 for his trade demand going public thanks to his agent Rich Paul.

But for at least a few months, LeBron would do well to have a good laugh about it.
