A total of 415 people tested positive for use of illegal drugs during a raid on a popular pub in Suphan Buri in the early hours of Wednesday.
Officials raided the “24 Bar’’ in tambon Sanam Chai of Muang district about 1.30am on Wednesday.
More than 1,000 customers were found partying inside.
Many tried to flee but officials had closed all exits, preventing anyone from leaving.
Checks found about 50 customers under the legal age of 20 years, one was only 15. Of these, 35 tested positive for illegal drug use. The pub was also selling alcohol after legal hours. Many small plastic sachets containing illegal drugs, along with some knives, were found dropped on the floor.
Urine tests on all 1,042 customers returned 415 positives - 261 men and 154 women.
The raid followed complaints from local residents that some nightspots were operating illegally, allowing minors entry, selling alcohol after hours and allowing drug use.
Suphan Buri's governor on Wednesday said he will issue a five-year closure order.
