After hack, sign on Lake Shore Drive near Soldier Field read ‘Kill Cops’

Soldier Field | Sun-Times file photo

An electronic sign on Lake Shore Drive was hacked overnight, with its message changed to read “Kill Cops.”

The sign, which is near Soldier Field and visible to northbound traffic on the busy thoroughfare, was discovered Friday morning, according to a police source.

It was not immediately known if anyone was in custody in connection with the hack.

The Chicago Police Department’s Office of News Affairs did not immediately respond to inquiries about the hack.

The hack occurred near Gold Star Families Memorial and Park, just east of Soldier Field, which memorializes Chicago police officers who were killed in the line of duty.
