After COVID-19 delay, Dana White’s Contender Series, Season 4 planned for August relaunch

Dana White’s Contender Series fans don’t have to worry. The UFC original series is still happening – just later than expected.

The series’ fourth season is expected to roll from August through September, streaming on Tuesdays. The season premiere currently is expected for Aug. 4 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Multiple people with knowledge of the situation recently informed MMA Junkie of the plan, but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

It currently is unknown how many episodes Season 4 will have, though in recent seasons, the promotion ran 10. If the UFC sticks to the status quo of 10, the show could run through early October, though it doesn’t seem like the promotion has planned that far out yet. August and early September, however, is currently being worked on.

Season 4 of Dana White’s Contender Series originally was slated to kick off June 23 with the series running through July and August. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season was put on hold.

Many of the fighters targeted pre-pandemic, such as Adrian Yanez, Josh Parisian, Leomana Martinez, Joseph Pfyer, Chad Johnson and Jerome Rivera still will appear in the upcoming season.

Some fighters, such as now-UFC flyweight Brandon Royval, now-UFC welterweight Anthony Ivy, and now-UFC middleweight Kyle Daukaus have been snatched up by the promotion as short-notice competitors.

DWCS has produced numerous UFC notables over its first three American seasons and solo Brazilian season. Names include Sean O’Malley, Geoff Neal, Johnny Walker, Maycee Barber, Roosevelt Roberts and more.
