After comeback against Virginia, Hurricanes remain No. 2 in AP Top 25

After a slow start against Virginia on Saturday, the Miami Hurricanes rallied to score 30 unanswered points en route to what was eventually a 44-28 win over the Cavaliers at Hard Rock Stadium.

On Sunday, the voters in the Associated Press Top 25 didn't penalize UM for its struggles, keeping Miami at the No. 2 spot in the ranking.

Alabama held on to No. 1, with Oklahoma (No. 3), Clemson (No. 4) and Wisconsin (No. 5) rounding out the top five.

For the Hurricanes, it's the first time since October 2003 that Miami has held the No. 2 spot in the AP Top 25 in back-to-back weeks.

After tough start, No. 3 Miami rallies for 44-28 win over Virginia

That was also the last time Miami notched a 10-win season, something the Hurricanes secured Saturday with their win over Virginia.

As encouraging as that consideration from AP voters may be, though, it's ultimately what the College Football Playoff committee decides in early December that will determined the Hurricanes' postseason fate.

Last Tuesday, unbeaten Miami (10-0) rose to No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings _ one spot behind one-loss Clemson.

The Hurricanes and Tigers are set to met in the ACC Championship Game on Dec. 2, the winner likely securing one of the top four spots in the CFP rankings and a berth in the playoffs.

The next College Football Playoff rankings are set to be released Tuesday evening.

This week, No. 1 Alabama rolled in a 56-0 win over Mercer, No. 2 Clemson beat The Citadel, 61-3, Miami had its 44-28 win over Virginia and No. 4 Oklahoma beat Kansas, 41-3.
