AHMEDABAD: The city witnessed cloudy skies throughout Tuesday, but only got 1.2 mm rainfall, primarily during evening hours. Central Zone received 2mm rainfall, followed by 1.75mm in western city parts. The forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday indicated possibility of light showers on Wednesday.
There was a slight respite from the heat as maximum temperature was recorded at 31.8 degrees Celsius, 1.1 degrees below normal. However, the minimum temperature rose to 27 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees higher than the normal. For the next four days, heavy rainfall is likely in Surat, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad along with the union territories of Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Other parts of the state are likely to receive widespread light to moderate rainfall, mentioned IMD forecast.
Pavi Jetpur in Chhota Udepur received 62 mm rainfall, followed by Bodeli in Chhota Udepur (56 mm), Dediapada in Narmada (51 mm), Vadodara (50 mm) and Chhota Udepur (50 mm). On Tuesday, 130 of the talukas in Gujarat received at least 1 mm rainfall, mentioned state department bulletin.
