After Clippers beat Knicks, Zubac says Lakers ‘didn’t have those nights’

The Lakers are going through it so bad, they’re even catching strays from friendly faces. Their playoff chances went from slim to nearly impossible on Saturday night after losing to the lowly Phoenix Suns, which prompted some introspective quotes from several players.

And had the Lakers not traded him in the final hours before the deadline, Ivica Zubac would have been in that same frame of mind that the Lakers are currently mired in. But he’s not anymore as the starting center for the Los Angeles Clippers.

After the Clippers handled their business on Sunday afternoon with a 128-107 win over the New York Knicks, who came into Staples and beat the Lakers back in January, Zubac said what the standings reflect.

From Mirjam Swanson of the Southern California News Group

Every possession against every team. That’s the thing that, aside from injuries to key players, has separated the Clippers from the Lakers. Zubac’s comments may read as shade, but even if it does, there’s nothing factually wrong with what he said.
