After breakout game, Damion Willis earns some big praise from Zac Taylor

Cincinnati Bengals undrafted wideout Damion Willis caught the eye of most who saw a training camp practice so far this offseason.

During the team’s second preseason game, Willis did much of the same on the field while leading the team in receiving with five catches for 59 yards.

Willis also ended up with some big praise from head coach Zac Taylor, according to Bengals.com:

“Damion’s got a knack for the ball. It’s no surprise that when we put the ball down the field, he’s got that radar where he can get underneath and go track those balls down. Damion has been impressive. With those young guys, consistency has been what we’re looking for. Showing up in the run game. It’s not just about catching the ball; it’s helping our backs in the run game as well. So, those guys have got to continue to step up, but overall they’ve done a nice job.”

This is a big step in the process for Willis, who looks more and more like the type of player who could make life difficult on a Cody Core or Josh Malone on cutdown day.

Keep in mind Willis had another big gain wiped out by a penalty and he made some notable blocks on special teams plays.

While Willis wasn’t a big name entering camp, he’s now got the surefire attention of the most important man in the organization — Zac Taylor.
