Several former Bears players took to Twitter in frustration after the team’s 34-30 loss Sunday to the Lions, with at least one wondering whether the franchise will fire coach Matt Nagy before the end of the season.
‘‘I saw some . . . firings in my time in Chicago none of which happened mid season,’’ wrote former offensive lineman Kyle Long, who retired after the Bears put him on injured reserve last season. ‘‘I wonder what the tipping point is and who ultimately makes the decision.’’
Former running back Matt Forte encouraged the Bears to ‘‘just throw the whole offense away . . . Coaches included!’’
As for general manager Ryan Pace, Forte wrote that ‘‘football starts in the trenches bruh,’’ a reference to Pace not devoting a single first-round pick to an offensive or defensive lineman during his tenure.

Forte pointed out that coach Lovie Smith, whom he played for, won 10 games in 2012 and still was fired. He sounded as though he felt bad for the Bears’ players.
‘‘I’ve played on some awful teams but man . . . y’all deserve better,’’ he wrote.

Former linebacker Lance Briggs tweeted during the fourth quarter that ‘‘Nagys gonna Nagy,’’ and ex-cornerback Jerry Azumah used exclamation points to get his point across.
‘‘I deserve better! You deserve better! We deserve better!’’ he wrote. ‘‘Everyone deserves better than this! What a damn joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’’
