After a ‘strange couple weeks’ Jon Gruden encouraged to see Antonio Brown on Raiders sideline

After the last week-plus of Antonio Brown news, any positivity regarding the Raiders wide receiver must lighten the mood of coach Jon Gruden.

Brown still hasn’t suited up for the Raiders this preseason, but he’s getting closer, going through warmups in full gear before the Raiders’ 33-26 win against the Cardinals Thursday night.

According to The Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Michael Gehlken, Gruden was so encouraged that he believes Brown will be back at practice before Napa training camp breaks Monday.

It was indeed quite a sight to see Brown in a Raiders’ uniform before a game. He’s missed most of camp with a foot ailment, and he’s also spent time away from Napa to find a helmet he feels comfortable playing in, going so far as to petition the NFL for his right to wear his favored lid.

He lost his appeal to the league, but his feet are closer to full health. There’s been no announcement from Brown that he’s found a certified helmet just yet, however.

Still, any positive news about Brown is a great sign. Even that he was simply in a good mood is worth a mention from Gruden. The coach will feel perhaps the best he has in a while when Brown finally suits up in full gear during the regular season and helps revive the Raiders in their last campaign in Oakland.
