Last night, the Philadelphia 76ers became aware of a positive test for guard Seth Curry during a game against the Brooklyn Nets, forcing the team to remain in New York City to contact trace. Their previous game was against the Washington Wizards on Jan. 6 at Philadelphia, who are now in Boston to play the Celtics this evening.
This raises the question of whether the Wizards should also be sheltering in place in light of potential contact between Curry and Washington’s players. It is a question yet to be addressed publicly by the league or the respective teams, who have taken great care to date to ensure the health of their players and staff.

For now, plans to address this developing situation remain unclear on Boston’s end, but we will likely hear some sort of clarification based on contact tracing results currently underway by the 76ers and perhaps the Wizards as well.
Per the Washington Post’s Ava Wallace, the Wizard’s plan is to proceed as normal, but that could also change as additional information becomes available.
The Celtic already have four players listed as questionable for the contest with their own players in the NBA’s health and safety protocols in addition to as many as three other players out recovering from injury, so this is a situation we are monitoring closely.
