After 0% Rotten Tomatoes score, John Travolta-starrer Gotti calls critics 'trolls behind keyboards'

Scoring a zero percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes is no mean feat but Gotti somehow managed to join the exclusive club alongside Jaws: The Revenge and Baby Geniuses 2: Superbabies this week, a mob drama that, according to critics, is an "unmitigated travesty" and "feels exactly like it was directed by a grown man who owns a framed 'Scarface' poster."

It's these kinds of reviews the John Travolta-starring movie about NYC mafia don John Got is now pushing back against, with a new promo campaign tackling them head on.

In a Trump-esque attack on the press, Gotti's official account tweeted: "Audiences loved Gotti but critics don’t want you to see it… The question is why??? Trust the people and see it for yourself!"

A newly cut trailer meanwhile accuses critics of "putting out a hit" on the movie, asking viewers: "Who would you trust more? Yourself or a troll behind a keyboard?" Only they might not be talking about 'yourself' exactly.

As Business Insider notes, a substantial amount of the Rotten Tomatoes user reviews that contribute to the film's 58% audience score were written by accounts only created this month.

Gotti opened in US cinemas on 15 June, with no UK theatrical release currently set.
