Africa Oye festival-goers bask in the sun on Saturday - in pictures

Africa Oye is the UK's biggest free celebration of African and Caribbean music and culture and it takes place every year in Sefton Park .

This year will be the festival's 27th annual event and thankfully the weather is glorious for the occasion this Saturday.

The festival started in 1992 from humble beginnings with a series of small city centre gigs. Now it attracts more than 50,000 people from across the world.

Topping the bill on the Saturday, and joining Oye as part of Windrush Day, is Jamaica's Horace Andy, a renowned singer-songwriter known as the 'sweetest voice in reggae' and for his long association with British trip-hop pioneers, Massive Attack.

As well as main stage performances, Oye also has a number of activity zones, family areas, food stalls, bars and after parties.
