David Moyo was already flying high with Hamilton before jetting out for the Africa Cup of Nations - and now he hopes to hit the heights for Zimbabwe.
Moyo, 27, bagged his fourth goal of the season in the 3-0 win over Queen of the South on Sunday, and was driven straight to England for his flight the following day.
Zimbabwe kick-off their campaign on Monday against Senegal before clashes with Malawi (January 14) and Guinea (January 18) and Moyo knows the longer he is away from Accies the better for his country.
He said: “The club is doing well and found a bit of form recently so a small piece of me doesn’t want to go when we’re doing well.
“But it is a big honour of course to play for my country.
“I had someone waiting for me after the game to take me straight down to London to fly out on Monday straight to Cameroon.
“I don’t know how long I will be away as it depends on how well you do in the tournament.
“Not many people get the chance to play for their country so I am very pleased and proud.
"I wanted to make sure I left the team in a good position and it was good to score the first goal.”
Moyo pounced on a penalty save by keeper Josh Rae and edged out taker Josh Mullin to crash home the opener against Queens.
And he says had penalty-taker Josh Mullin got in his way he would have hit the net as well as the ball.

He joked: “I was quick to react, but if Josh got in the way he was getting smashed!
“Seriously, it was good to score and now I just want to go and do well for my country and get some goals."
