AFL western derby locked in for Sunday

The AFL has locked in the western derby for Sunday afternoon at Optus Stadium. (AAP)

The round 22 AFL fixture is slowly taking shape, with the western derby between Fremantle and West Coast locked in for Sunday afternoon in Perth.

The Dockers and Eagles will lock horns at 3.10pm local time at Optus Stadium in front of what is expected to be a sellout crowd of close to 60,000 fans.

Both teams are vying for a spot in the finals, with 12th-placed Fremantle needing to win their final two games to have any chance of making it.

GWS and Richmond are set to kick off the round with a Friday night match that effectively looms as an elimination final.

The Brisbane Lions are hopeful of being able to host Collingwood at the Gabba.

The AFL are still yet to confirm the days and venues of the other matches.
