Hogan hits top form as Demons beat Lions
Melbourne has beaten the Brisbane Lions by 13 points at the MCG to all but seal a spot in the finals for the Demons.
Forward Jesse Hogan led the way kicking six goals for Melbourne, as the Demons held off a late surge from Brisbane to win 16.8 (104) to 14.7 (91).
The win puts the Demons in seventh spot on 48 points after 22 rounds, and there is only a mathematical chance that two out of Essendon, West Coast, Western Bulldogs and St Kilda could now overtake them to knock Simon Goodwin's side out of the eight.
Melbourne will finish the home-and-away season with a match against Collingwood at the MCG next Saturday.
More to come.
