Afghanistan-Pakistan series to start from September 3

MUMBAI: The Afghanistan cricket team is set to take to the field for the first time since the Taliban's hostile takeover of their country a few days back.

The Afghanistan versus Pakistan ODI series is set to kick off from September 3 in Sri Lanka. "Yes, the series will start on September 3," Hamin Shinwari, CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed to TOI on Monday from Kabul.

With commercial flights being banned from Kabul after the Taliban took over Afghanistan, there've been reports that Pakistan has issued visas to Afghanistan players to enable them to travel via Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Sri Lanka.

Both the boards have decided to host the series in Sri Lanka as it is a neutral venue.
