A mounting campaign to save the life of a young Afghan journalist, Sayed Perwiz Kambakhsh, has yet to move the country's president, Hamid Karzai, to take action. He did not responded to clemency appeals made during last week's world economic forum in Davos. Kambakhsh, 23, has been sentenced to death for blasphemy after he downloaded material from the internet relating to the role of women in Islamic societies. He works for Jahan-e Naw (New World).
