Affordable homes built on former bottle factory in Kingswood

A former bottle factory has made way for 29 affordable homes in Kingswood.

The development in Cecil Road has been built thanks to a £4m investment by Sovereign and a £1.1m Homes England grant.

Residents have already started moving into the 19 shared ownership two-bed flats and 10 shared ownership one-bed flats.

Built by E G Carter & Co Ltd, the new homes are just a stone’s throw from Kingswood High Street.

James Gibson, development director at Sovereign, said: “Sovereign is really pleased to work in partnership with E G Carter and South Gloucestershire Council to deliver these much-needed homes.

“The first residents have already started moving into the 29 shared ownership flats. It was great to be able to meet some of the new residents and to see our development already turning into a community.”

South Gloucestershire Council worked in close partnership with the developers on the project.

Cllr Ben Stokes, cabinet member for adults and public health, said: “I am delighted that individuals and families are already moving into these new flats, in the heart of Kingswood where we know there is a need for affordable homes close to the high street, to where people work and to the transport infrastructure that they need.

6 steps to a planning process application

“We are committed to increasing the amount of affordable housing right across South Gloucestershire and working with partners like Sovereign is proving to be a great way to deliver the homes people need so they can benefit from the fact that this is such a great place to live and work.”
