AFC Wimbledon fans can have stadium named after them for £10 and even sponsor a urinal at new ground

AFC Wimbledon are offering fans the chance to have their new stadium named after them for a match, if they invest in the club’s crowdfunding scheme.

Wimbledon are planning to move back to Plough Lane for the start of the 2020-21 campaign and aim to raise £7million to help pay for the £30m move.

Incentives are being offered to encourage people to invest.

Instead of handing over the new ground to a single sponsor in the first season, 20 per cent of all home games will be reserved for a unique fans’ draw.

Any supporter who buys one £10 share will automatically be entered and, if their name comes out of the hat, they will win the stadium naming rights for the next home match.

Wimbledon chief executive Joe Palmer said: “Imagine how you’ll feel when the match announcer welcomes everyone to your ground over the tannoy.”

Fans willing to invest can also get their names on the goalposts, corner flags, turnstiles, beer taps — and even the men’s urinals.

Construction work has already begun on the new stadium. Details of the crowdfunding scheme can be found at afcwimbledon.co.uk as well as images of the ground.
