AFC South standings entering Week 8

As the midway point of the 2019 regular season arrives, the AFC South is shaping up to be a two-team race down the stretch between the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans.

Those two teams just squared off against each other in Week 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium, resulting in a 30-23 win for the Colts—who now sit atop the division by a half-game.

Here’s how the AFC South looks entering Week 8:

1. Indianapolis Colts (4-2)

The Colts are now alone atop the AFC South for the first time since Nov. 2015. Thanks to a career day from quarterback Jacoby Brissett and Zach Pascal, the Colts offense led the way while the defense turned in its second impressive performance in as many games.

The Colts are at home again in Week 8, hosting the Denver Broncos (2-5) at Lucas Oil Stadium.

2. Houston Texans (4-3)

The Texans had been playing well on the road, but the Colts were able to apply consistent pressure on Deshaun Watson—forcing him to throw two interceptions. They did allow over 100 receiving yards to DeAndre Hopkins and Kenny Stills, but the Texans couldn’t come away with the road win.

The Texans are at home hosting the Oakland Raiders (3-3) at NRG Stadium in Week 8.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4)

The Jaguars drew the favorable matchup against the lowly Cincinnati Bengals and were able to take care of business on the road. Leonard Fournette continued his strong season with 131 rushing yards while Dede Westbrook went over 100 receiving yards.

The Jaguars are at home in Week 8 at TIAA Bank Field hosting the New York Jets (1-5).

4. Tennessee Titans (3-4)

Because the Jaguars hold the tiebreaker in the head-to-head matchup, the Titans sit in last place. However, they seemed to have found new life with Ryan Tannehill under center as he replaced Marcus Mariota. They snuck out a win against the Los Angeles Chargers at home as Tannehill threw for 312 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

The Titans are at home in Week 8 at Nissan Stadium hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4).
