AFC North watch: Bengals lose another offensive lineman

That sound you hear might be the dripping of Myles Garrett and the rest of the Cleveland Browns defensive linemen’s drool puddling below them as they ponder facing the Cincinnati Bengals this year.

Drip. Drop. Splash.

That matchup got even more mouth-watering for the Dawgs up front, thanks to more misfortune befalling the Browns in-state rival.

Already down first-round pick Jonah Williams, who was projected to start immediately at left tackle, the Bengals must now replace starting left guard Clint Boling on the fly.

Boling surprisingly retired on Monday, ending his eight-year career for health reasons. Boling was essentially the Cincinnati version of Joel Bitonio, a very solid all-around blocker and a bedrock of stability for the Bengals.

Now the Bengals turn over Boling’s position to a camp battle that features Christian Westerman, John Jerry, Trey Hopkins and perhaps rookie Michael Jordan. Suffice to say they can expect some regression. And that’s very appetizing news for Garrett, Larry Ogunjobi and the Browns defensive front that gets to attack it twice a year.
