Aerosmith appear to confirm Glastonbury 2020 performance – on the same night at Paul McCartney

Aerosmith appear to have confirmed that they will play Glastonbury next year, on the same night as Paul McCartney — presumably supporting the Beatle, or headlining another stage.

The band included a date at the festival on June 27 when an announcement of their European tour dates went out to mailing list subscribers this morning, but the show doesn’t yet feature on their official website. The festival has not made any announcement.

The Dream On rockers will join Paul McCartney, who is headlining the Pyramid stage that Saturday night, and Diana Ross, confirmed for the Sunday night "legends slot". No other performers have been announced, though Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar are currently the bookies’ favourites for the vacant top spots.

The Glastonbury appearance comes in the midst of a 2020 European tour that also sees Aerosmith play a show at the O2 in July.

After confirming McCartney’s slot, organiser Emily Eavis last week dropped two hints as to who else might be appearing on the Pyramid stage. She told BBC Radio 2: “Interestingly, for the other two headliners its their first time at Glastonbury and we’ve got one male and one female — so there are a couple of clues there."

Besides Swift and Lamar, Elton John and Madonna have also been touted as possibilities for next year's festival.
