Passengers thrown from seats and food strewn across plane in freak turbulence

Freak air turbulence rocked a passenger jet leaving several people injured and the aisle covered in food and drink that were thrown everywhere.

Passengers who weren't wearing seatbelts were thrown as the turbulence in a clear sky caused mayhem "out of nowhere" at an altitude of about 33,000ft.

Footage recorded by a flight attendant in the aftermath shows the carnage in the Aeroflot plane's galley and cabin.

Rubbish, food trays, wine and soft drink bottles, and passengers' belongings are all over the floor of the Airbus A330 which was flying from Moscow to Seoul.

There were more than 300 passengers on board when the turbulence “came from nowhere” in excellent weather conditions, say reports.

One report said: “We see the whole floor of aisles and the galley covered with food, rubbish and small personal belongings of the passengers."

The plane was believed to have been at an altitude of around 33,000ft when the scary incident occurred at some point during the eight-hour flight.

The crew gave first aid for injuries and the plane continued safely to South Korea's capital.

The incident happened on August 25 but only came to light on Saturday as the flight attendant's video emerged on social media.

Mirror Online has contacted Aeroflot - Russia's flag carrier and largest airline - for comment.

The airline is 51 per cent-owned by the Russian government and uses Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport as its main hub.

In May this year, 41 of 78 people onboard an Aeroflot jet were killed when the plane caught fire during an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 was returning to the airport after it was hit by lightning and suffered an electrical failure.

The plane made a hard landing and fuel ignited, sending flames through the cabin as dozens of terrified passengers were trapped onboard.
