Aerial images show how London's Square Mile has changed over a decade

A photographer has documented the drastic change in the City skyline over the past decade, which you can see using our special slider image below.

Jason Hawkes has flown over London weekly in helicopters for more than 20 years, taking photos for architects and developers.

He compared his 2009 and latest shots and found the differences “incredible”.

He said: “Because I see it all the time it doesn’t look that amazing day-to-day, but looking back you realise how much it has changed.

"When I first started doing this all there really was there was the NatWest building, Tower 42.”

The newest building, 70 St Mary Axe — dubbed the “Can of Ham” — is to be completed this year.
