The extent of destruction cause by Iran’s missile strike on US forces at an air base in Iraq has been shown in satellite images taken in the aftermath of the attack.
Iranian rockets damaged or destroyed seven buildings in the part of Ain al-Asad air base that houses US troops, the dramatic photos appear to show.
The pictures show bomb craters from the missile barrage, which Iran claimed was a “slap in the face” for the US following the attacks on two bases.
No Americans were harmed in either of Tuesday night’s strikes.
The missile launches were carried out in retaliation for last week’s killing of a top Iranian general in a US drone strike.

At least three of the structures appear to be aircraft maintenance hangers.
Some of the buildings or structures have completely disappeared and only parts of the others remain.
"They targeted the American portion of the base. They meant to hit it and they did hit it," said Jeffrey Lewis of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California.
