Aer Lingus talks with cabin crew collapse with jobs and pay under threat

Aer Lingus has informed their cabin crew of potential job losses and a pay freeze until at least 2025.

The warning comes after union members rejected a restructuring deal.

In a letter to all cabin crew, seen by Newstalk, the airline said it has begun an immediate review of their terms and conditions and crew bases.

Earlier today the company sent a letter to cabin staff warning that it was pressing ahead with the changes.

It confirmed that no pay increases would be brought in until 2025 "at the earliest" and that the potential layoffs "will continue well into 2022 and indeed may increase in number".

Aer Lingus said the proposed structural changes "clearly outlined the serious challenges facing the business and the changes to pay and work practices necessary to deal with the situation".

The airline say this is down to a surplus of CSMs (Cabin Service Managers).

It added that its voluntary severance programme will close “and no further severance offers will be made to individuals under the scheme”.
