Aer Lingus flight forced into emergency landing after bird strike causes engine fire

An Aer Lingus flight is returning to Dublin for an emergency landing after a bird strike caused an engine fire.

The terrifying incident, which just occurred in the last few minutes, happened on flight EI115 from Dublin Airport to Philadelphia.

It is understood that the incident caused a flame to ignite on the starboard engine.

A bird strike famously caused the 'Miracle on the Hudson' plane landing.

Captain Chesley Sullenberger famously landed the aircraft on the Hudson River in the middle of New York City after the plane lost trust in both engines.

Thankfully, all passengers survived without serious injury.
