Aer Lingus flight bound for London forced to turn back to Dublin Airport due to pressurisation problem

An Aer Lingus flight bound for London was forced to return to Dublin Airport shortly after take off due to a pressurisation problem.

The plane left Dublin shortly after 2:30pm this afternoon but was forced to make an emergency call over Liverpool.

The 20-year-old Avro RJ85 jet then returned to Dublin Airport.

Airport Webcams shared details of the flight on Twitter.

They said: "Aer Lingus EI286 Dublin to London City (Avro RJ85 EI-RJI) squawked 7700 General Emergency over Liverpool, declared Pan Pan with Scottish ACC and has just returned to DUB with a pressurisation problem."

An Aer Lingus spokesman said: "Aer Lingus flight EI286 (Dublin to London City) was required to turn back shortly after take-off this afternoon due to a technical issue.

"The aircraft landed safely at Dublin Airport and all guests and crew safely disembarked.

"Necessary maintenance is now underway. We will continue to keep guests up to date on the status of the flight and sincerely apologise to guests for the inconvenience this has caused."
